Sir David Attenborough presents A Perfect Planet

Sir David Attenborough returns in A Perfect Planet, the stunning new earth-science series premiering this Saturday at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.

Four years in the making and filmed across 31 countries on six continents, this five-part docu-series showcases how life could not exist without powerful natural forces like the ocean, volcanoes, the weather and the sun.

The series takes viewers on a stunning visual journey through places like the idyllic Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, the tidal islands of the Bahamas and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, challenging the way we look at the ecosystems which support life in all its forms.

Each episode details how perfectly suited the conditions on Earth are for not only human life but the animals who inhabit it. From the Earth’s precise size, down to its distance from the sun, our planet has the unique conditions that make all life possible.

Intricate weather systems work to distribute fresh water to all corners of the globe, marine currents deliver nutrients to even the deepest reaches of the ocean, sunlight is a pivotal energy source, and powerful volcanoes create and fertilise the land.

The series ends by examining the impact humans are having on the planet and the footprint we are leaving, which threatens to disrupt Earth’s perfect natural balance.

Produced by the team behind Planet Earth and Blue Planet, Perfect Planet is part of the Natural World offering available on 9Now, which features over 80 hours of programming from the BBC, including many from world-famous naturalist, Sir David Attenborough.
